Windows:
I hear an echo?
- If you're hearing an echo you need to change your computer's mic/line in and recording settings.
- Click start run and enter "MMSYS.CPL" without the quotes or go to control panel and open your Sound and Audio device Properties .
- Click advanced
- Use the following as a guide to determine the best settings. If your audio settings look different try bringing down the volume for each until the echo goes away.


Mac:
I cant hear any audio?
- Check that you can hear sound coming from your cassette player, record player or audio playing device.
- Plug headphones into your cassette player, record player or audio playing device to confirm that the headphone jack is working
- Make sure you have an audio cable correctly connected. One end should be connected to your cassette player, record player or audio playing device's headphone jack and the other end should be connected to your computer's microphone input or computer's line in. If you are not sure please refer to your computer's manual.
- If the above methods still don't alleviate the problem you may need a new audio cable or your computer's input may be broken.
I dont have a line in or mic in?
- On some macs your headphone in can function as a line in.Try using your headphone in and follow these instructions to set your headphones as a line in.
- Select your system preferences from the apple menu.

- Click sound.

- Change settings while playing your cassette or record until you see a signal. Try raising the volume on your stereo and in preferences you are viewing

Recording:
I cant hear any audio?

The volume seems different on each track?
- Depending on whether you are trying to transfer a cassette tape to CD/MP3 or a record to MP3 you will have varying audio levels. Since the majority of cassettes and vinyl records are old they have degraded and so has the audio signal.
The audio is choppy?
- You may have too many things running on your computer while you are recording. Try using Baktrack with only your browser open with and only one browser window or tab.
Your Tracks:
How can I check the audio I'v e recorded?
- Under the "your tracks" button in your tracks list click on the track you want to check. Click the green play button below the "album" input text field.
How can I remove MP3's I don't want?
- Under the "your tracks" button in your tracks list click on the track you want to remove. Click the trash can icon next to the scissors.
How can I split MP3's?
- Under the "your tracks" button in your tracks list click on the track you want to split. Click the scissors icon. Move the scissors icon to the desired split time and click again.
How can I combine MP3's?
- Under the "your tracks" button in your tracks list click on the track you want to split. Click checkbox to the upper left on each track you've recorded. Click "combine selected" just below "your tracks"
Can I get a track back after I've removed it?
- No, so be certain you want to delete it before confirming your choice.
How many tracks can I transfer?
- There is no limit.
Can I add other mp3 related information, like album for instance?
- Yes, you can add title, artist and album metadata. Under the "your tracks" button in your tracks list click on the track you want to change. Type in your desired information in the album, artist, or title input fields.
I left my cassette tape player playing and now I ended up with one long track?
- You can use the scissor tool in each track to split your audio into smaller tracks.
- Depending on whether you are playing a cassette tape or a record you will have varying audio levels and degrees of white noise and clicks. Just above the "Finish and Download" button there is a silence level slider control that you can set to deal with noise. Set the level higher if your cassette or record has a lot of noise.

How do I get "my tracks" onto my computer?
- Once your payment has been confirmed a zip of your MP3s will be sent directly to your computer. You will also receive an email containing a link to your files. We'll store your files for one month on our server.
Where have my tracks gone once I download them?
- Depending on your operating system, browser and browser version your zipped tracks may be downloaded to different locations on your hard drive. In most cases you can open "Downloads" or "Download Window" as an option in your browser to find the default location.
